This series of Interactive Lectures bring together Artists with Local Community Organisations to explore the need for people to get involved in shaping change in their local communities.


Together we will examine several contemporary issues including



Race, Media and Representation’

Thursday 15th November 7 - 8.30pm

This event will explore how we are seen in the media and how we see ourselves through the media.  We will examine practices that bypass existing mainstream media platforms that give greater control.  How does this work and what are the goals for such initiatives?

Hafsah works as a contemporay artist exploring identity and representation through photography, installation and film.

Milton Brown | KL TV
Milton is director of the online internet TV channel KLTV and currently holds a United Nations Fellowship.



‘The Numbers: Statistics and the Black communities’ | Crime

November 22nd 
7 - 8.30pm
The Numbers: an objective look at Black communities through statistics. How are we doing? Is it worth examination? Is there practical action from this?
This particular discussion will in particular focus on the statistics presented by the criminal justice system how it affects communities and contributions from organisations at the sharp edge of things.

Employment : Whats working

Exactly what percentage of Black people in Manchester are out of work? What about young people? What are we doing to find work? What are we doing to get an income? Who has the information and what is working?

We will discuss the process of recovery and building a network of employment that works for everyone.
